In the wake of the news that Toshiba is officially killing HD-DVD (link) I've been smacked with the perils of being an early adopter as I purchased the 2nd generation HD-DVD player for $99 during the last Black Friday pre-sale madness. Don't cry for me however; with blu-ray the apparent winner, the wife surprised me on Valentine's day with a PS3! Luckily, my HD-DVD player is an excellent upscaling DVD player so there's that.
